Entering its sixth year, the San Francisco Art Book Fair is larger than ever as it expands into the new Minnesota Street Project Foundation media and exhibition building.

Co-organized by MSP and galleries Park Life and Colpa, the SFABF celebrates printed material from independent publishers, artists, designers and collectors from around the world. For three days, people can get up close with artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, zines and other printed ephemera, all for sale.

A number of special events are also scheduled for the weekend, both at the MSP contemporary art campus and around the city. The MSP atrium at 1275 Minnesota is set to hold 80 exhibitors, while the new MSP Foundation space at 1201 Minnesota will feature 75 publishers exploring the newest, most innovative forms of bookmaking. This year’s exhibitors include San Francisco favorites Arion Press, Chronicle Books, Headlands Center for the Arts and William Stout Architectural Books.

The fair has become a favorite for both book and art lovers and attracts the luminaries of the Bay Area arts world. With so much going on in theDogpatch neighborhood— from great dining atBesharamand Piccino to fabulous museums like the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco and the Museum of Craft and Design — it’s easy to turn a trip to the fair into an only-in-San-Francisco day of culture.
