Colin Kaepernick is about to start appearing on your TV a lot more

Colin Kaepernickhas signed withCreative Artists Agency,a move that could see the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback appearing more frequently across film, televisionand other mediums.

The Los Angeles-based talent and sports agencyrepresentsZendaya,Tom Hanks, Beyoncé,James Cameron, Jordan Peele,Margot Robbie,Green Dayand dozens of other blockbusters. Among its expanding roster of sports clients are Golden State Warriors power forward Andrew Wiggins, soccer great David Beckham, retired New York Yankees slugger Derek Jeter, and former NFL stars Eli Manning and Adrian Peterson.

The Chronicle confirmed Kaepernick’s signing, first reported in the film industry journalDeadline, but no other details about the deal were available.

Kaepernick, 34, has not played in the NFL since 2016, after he knelt at games during “The Star-Spangled Banner” to protest racial injustice and police treatment of Black people. He was aSan Francisco 49ersquarterback from 2011 to 2016, leading them to the Super Bowl after the 2012 season.

The 49ers released him when he was 29, but he has remained in the spotlight through his advocacy work and other high-profile projects.

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Kaepernick dropped a trailer for a new series called “Killing County” on hiswebsite. The three-part true crime documentary, which premieres Feb. 3 on Hulu, examines the 2013 fatal officer-involved shooting of Jorge RamirezJr. in Bakersfield.

Last year, the former quarterback introduced Kaepernick Publishing with the New York Times bestseller “I Color Myself Different” as part of a series of picture books through the children’s publisher Scholastic.

Kaepernick was also the subject of the Ava DuVernay-produced Netflix docuseries, “Colin in Black and White,” which premiered in 2021 — the same year Ben & Jerry’s introduced thevegan ice cream flavor “Change the Whirled” in his honor.
