In her new movie “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” Emma Thompson plays a woman who is so out of touch with her own desires she doesn’t know what to say when a gorgeous young man who is ready to take her to bed (Daryl McCormack of “Peaky Blinders”) asks: “So what is your fantasy?”

In fact, she says she was drawn to playing a woman so repressed she is driven to desperate measures to experience a late-in-life sexual awakening precisely because she sees Nancy as “absolutely every woman. She’s completely relatable to people, which is why I liked her so much,” the two-time Oscar winner told The Chronicle by phone from her home in London.
“Nancy is very bright, articulate, she has a sense of humor to a certain degree. She’s someone you can completely feel you could meet on the Tube or the train or the bus any day of the week, and that’s so important about her,” she said.
