Ewan McGregor is the latest celebrity expected to make an appearance at the second Fan Expo San Francisco this fall, organizers announced Thursday, Aug. 3.
The three-day event, scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend Nov. 24-26, celebrates the intersection of pop culture, comics and gaming, with a star-studded list of guest appearances for fans of all ages. For his part, the “Star Wars” actor is scheduled to appear Nov. 25-26, with a special experience “Ewan McGregor: Live” set for 2:30 p.m. on the concluding Sunday.
McGregor, who plays a young欧比旺·肯诺比的前传电影和迪斯尼+ series franchise, joins a lineup that includes Plumas County native James Marsters, who played Spike in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”; “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor Sean Gunn; the original “RoboCop” himself, Peter Weller; Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” film franchise; and Jonathan Frakes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” fame,among others.
The family-friendly event will also feature plenty of photo opportunities, cosplay competitions and a variety of demos and workshops for attendees to engage in.
“The second year of Fan Expo San Francisco will be even bigger and better than before,” show director Missy Morris told the Chronicle, adding that the “goal is to make Fan Expo a San Francisco holiday tradition.”
Last year’s event featured Pittsburg nativeDante Basco, best known for his role as Rufio in Steven Spielberg’s “Hook,” and comic artist Arthur Adams who worked on a variety of Marvel comics including “Fantastic Four” and “The Uncanny X-Men,” in addition to a cosplay red carpet, an artist’s alley, panel discussions and a show floor where guests could purchase merchandise.
Fan Expo HQ, thelargestcomic convention producer in the world, agreed to host the event for five years at the Moscone Center when itfirst began last fall.
A limited number of advance tickets are available online through Nov. 10 at the discounted rate of $10 off a single-day ticket, which usually starts at $40, and $20 off three-day passes and ultimate fan and family packages, which range from $85 to $149.
