Another band headed to S.F. cancels tour because of COVID: ‘an incredible disappointment’

A day after singer-songwriterRegina Spektorannounced that she has canceled her remaining 2022 tour dates due to a COVID-19 diagnosis,Hold Steadyfrontman Craig Finn said on Wednesday, Oct.12, that he was scrapping all of his October tour dates with his band the Uptown Controllers after a member tested positive for the coronavirus.

“We don’t feel that making quick and hectic adjustments to the band lineup will allow us to bring the show we want to play for you, so we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this portion of the tour,” Finn said on Twitter.

The Brooklyn-based musician said he hopes to resume the West Coast leg of the tour in November, in time for the band’s date at Cafedu Nord in San Francisco on Nov. 5.

Finn was on tour in support of his new solo album, “A Legacy of Rentals,” and did manage to squeeze in a performance on “Late Night With Seth Meyerslast night, with musician Joe Russo stepping in for his ailing, unidentified band member.

“These are immensely trying times for touring musicians, and we hope you understand,” Finn added in his social media post. “We were fortunate that we made it through a fantastic European tour in September, but we were not so lucky for this run. It’s an incredible disappointment, but it’s a priority to keep our band, audiences, club staff and crew healthy.”
