BottleRock 2022: The best food and drink options to try during the festival

A seafood twist on loaded tots, this dish from the Tomales saloon William Tell House consists of a heaping, shareable portion of tater tots topped with sriracha mayonnaise and large pieces of fresh Maine lobster, including some claws. The sriracha mayo has a subtle kick, and the cold lobster is a great balance to the warm, fried tots. Located in VIP, the William Tell House also has Tomales Bay oysters on the half shell ($48 a dozen).

Located in VIP only, the Hobbs pork belly is hand-cut to about ½-inch thick, marinated for 48 hours in a delicious sauce and then charbroiled. It looks a little tricky to eat, but requires no utensils and is so tender that you can bite right in. The fatty pieces are the best part. Pair it with Compline’s crispy duck fat fries ($14), a favorite of Napa locals.

The Den Dog, Loveski, $16

Loveski, the new Jewish deli concept from Meadowood and Charter Oak chef Christopher Kostow, which opened in March, has dreamed up this hot dog special specifically just for BottleRock. The loaded Den Dog, named for co-owner Martina Kostow’s mother, is a beef hot dog topped with sambal mayo, Thai vinaigrette and fried onions. The dog is nice and light, not too dense, and the fried onions really stay with you, lingering for a few minutes after each bite. The sauce is extremely messy – grab extra napkins – and decently spicy, so it’s not made for those with sensitive palates. Topped with purple Thai basil flower, it’s also one of the prettiest hot dogs you’ve likely ever eaten, so be sure to snap a shot before you eat.

Loveski has booths in both general admission and VIP, but they are only serving the hot dog in GA.

Charlie’s, a new concept from a French Laundry alum that’s set to open in the old Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen location this fall, is previewing the concept at BottleRock in the VIP section. Its top offering is a container of crispy onion dip with Regiis Ova caviar and crème fraîche mixed in with a large side of salty, handmade kettle potato chips for dipping.

Lobster roll, New England Lobster & Crab Shack, $34

Available to both general admission and VIP ticket holders, the lobster roll ($34) from the New England Lobster & Crab Shack (find it at one of the Mustards’ booths) is uber refreshing — the perfect snack when the sun is at its peak. The Maine lobster is extremely juicy, and the mayonnaise-to-lobster ratio is perfect, prioritizing the lobster over the mayo.
