California Academy of Sciencesis resuming its NightLife Live after-hours concerts this year for the first time since 2019.
The four-part live music series plans to return to the venue in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Thursday, July 13, with a headlining set byTommy Guerrero, a native multi-instrumentalist and skateboarding icon.Ritmos Tropicosmos, a seven-piece psychedelic cumbia group from Oakland, is scheduled to open the show.
Additional performances are scheduled for Aug. 10, featuring the San Francisco indie-pop actsNo VacationandSour Widows; Sept. 14, with local hip-hop and R&B actsA-1 & Baghead,ASTUandIsaiah Mostafa; and Oct. 12, withTanukichan, which features classically-trained multi-instrumentalist and Bay Area native Hannah van Loon in collaboration with Grammy-nominated musician Chaz Bear ofToro y Moi.
Each Nightlife Live event features DJ sets inside the natural history museum as well as jazz and lounge performances in the Philippine Coral Reef courtesy ofMellow Sessions. The evening parties will also include a curated local art exhibition in collaboration with Oakland's artist-run galleryHelvella Art.
