Ed Sheeran, the chart-topping singer-songwriter, will take frequent breaks from his stadium and arena tour across North America to perform at a handful of intimate theaters, including the Fox Theater in Oakland.
Sheeran has added 14 theaters and auditoriums in the United States and Canada to the itinerary for his “+ – = ÷ x Tour” (pronounced “Mathematics”), with support provided by San Francisco-born singer and longtime collaborator Ben Kweller.
The Oakland concert is slated for Sept. 15, one day before he performs a previously announced date atLevi’s Stadiumin Santa Clara on Sept. 16.

Tickets for the theater shows can be acquired through theTicketmaster Verified Fanpresale, beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2. Fans can register for the presale until Sunday, April 30.
Sheeran, who is preparing for the release of his latest album, “Subtract,” on May 5, has recently been in court battling a copyright claim made by Marvin Gaye’s estate, which alleges that the Grammy-winning British musician used components of the soul classic “Let’s Get It On” for his hit “Thinking Out Loud.”
