The band had recently announced performance dates in Australia and New Zealand and was on tour in Bogota, Colombia, on Friday, March 25, when Hawkins died in his hotel room. He was 50 years old, and preliminary reports noted that he complained of chest pains, which prompted calls to emergency services, shortly before he died. Later reports added that controlled substancesincluding marijuana, antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioidswere found in his body at the time of his death.

“We are sending love and light to the entire Foo Fighters family during this incredibly difficult time,”Aftershockorganizers said in a statement.

The heavy metal and rock festival, slated to run Oct. 6-9 at Sacramento’s Discovery Park, originally had the Foo Fighters set to headline Sunday’s lineup. A replacement has not yet been announced. Other festival acts include Kiss, Slipknot and My Chemical Romance.
