After picking up two awards earlier this year, the Vallejo R&B singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist bornGabrielle Wilsonscored her second consecutive nomination for album of the year for her latest release, “I Used to Know Her,” as well as record and song nods for the single “Hard Place.”

Thefull list of nominationsfor the 62nd annual Grammy Awards was announced on Wednesday, Nov. 20, with “Truth Hurts” singerLizzodominating the categories with a whopping eight nominations, including bids for album of the year for her major-label debut, “Cuz I Love You,” song and record of the year for her anthemic No. 1 hit “Truth Hurts,” and best new artist.

Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X earned six nominations apiece.

Eilish also scored nominations in the top four categories, making the 17-year-old the youngest artist in the history of the Grammys to achieve the feat. Lil Nas X, 20, is up for three of the top four awards, including album and record of the year for “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.

H.E.R.’s “I Used to Know Her,” Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You,” Eilish’s “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” and Lil Nas X’s “7” will compete for album of the year along with Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next,” Bon Iver’s “I,I,” Vampire Weekend’s “Father of the Bride” and Lana Del Rey’s “Norman F–ing Rockwell!”

Nominees for record of the year include “Hard Place,” “Old Town Road,” “Truth Hurts,” Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” Grande’s “7 Rings” and Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower.” Bon Iver’s “Hey, Ma” and Khalid’s “Talk.”

Two major snubs include Taylor Swift, who was shut out of album of the year for “Lover,” even though the title track earned a nomination for song of the year, a songwriter’s award; andBTS, the Korean boy band, whose album “Map of the Soul: Persona” topped the charts.

Swift’s “Lover” will compete in the song of the year category with “Hard Place,” “Truth Hurts,” “Bad Guy,” Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way” from “A Star Is Born,” Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved,” Lana Del Rey’s “Norman F–ing Rockwell!” and Tanya Tucker’s “Bring My Flowers Now.”

H.E.R., who currently lives in New York, is also in the running for best R&B song and best R&B performance for “Could’ve Been,” bringing in a total of five nominations for the Bay Area native.

At the 61st annual Grammy Awards in February, H.E.R. won the prize for best R&B performance for her song “Best Part,” featuring Daniel Caesar. Then, during the main event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, she picked up the trophy for the best R&B album of the year for her 2017 release, “H.E.R.,” a compilation of her first two EPs.

“It was a turning point,” Wilson toldThe Chronicle in Septemberahead of her Lights On Festival in Concord. “People saw what I was really capable of doing. A lot of people came up to me afterwards and said, ‘Oh my gosh, seeing you up there made me a fan.’”

The 2020 Grammys will hand out awards in its 84 categories live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 26. Nominees were selected from more than 20,000 submissions, and the final round of voting runs from Dec. 9 until Jan. 3.
