Organizers of the annualHardly Strictly Bluegrassmusic festival have officially released the initial lineup of performers set to take the stage in Golden Gate Park this fall.
The first slate of artists scheduled to perform at the free three-day concert’s 23rd year, set for Sept. 29-Oct. 1, includes the Americana actJason Isbell and the 400 Unit; cellistLeyla McCalla; Australian alt-rockers the Church; the latest project from the X frontman, John Doe Folk Trio; singer-songwriterValerie June;blues guitarist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram; comedic troubadour John Craigie; retro-soul musician Neal Francis; Canadian indie-rock outfit Bahamas; and Guatemalan composerGaby Moreno,节日生产商firmed Wednesday, July 26.
A medley released a day before, streaming onHardly Strictly Bluegrass’ official websiteand festival app, teased to the news. Additional performers will be revealed over the coming weeks through more teaser reels.

Isbell, who last performed at the festival in 2014, said he is excited to make his return this year.
“Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is as good as a music festival gets, in my opinion,” he said in a statement. “The location, the weather, the lack of corporate signage, the opportunity for beautiful and unique musical moments to happen — I love it all. This is one festival I always get excited about.”
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, which for the last two decades has drawn up to500000人to the west end of the park each day, was held virtually during the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic but made atriumphant in-person returnin 2022 with a lineup that includedElvis Costello,Emmylou Harris,Buddy Miller,Marcus MumfordandSteve Earle.
“Coming home to Golden Gate Park was essential to our well-being,” said Sheri Sternberg, executive producer of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, in a statement about last year’s event. “Everyone needed to have an exceptional year; the artists did not disappoint, and the audience rejoiced.”
The free concert is presented as a gift to the people of San Francisco by the family of the late financier, philanthropist and amateur banjo playerWarren Hellman, the co-founder Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in 2001.
This year’s festival will once again be available to stream around the globe via Hardly Strictly Bluegrass TV, which also includes original content and exclusive sets from the 2022 festival.
New teaser medleys are scheduled to be posted on Aug. 8, Aug. 22 and Sept. 5.
