Journey announces 50th anniversary tour dates — without Bay Area stops

Journey has announced 50th anniversary tour dates for 2024, but none of them are in the Bay Area.

Journeyhas announced details of its50th anniversaryNorth American tour, with Bay Area dates notably absent from the itinerary.

The San Francisco band plans to kick off its Freedom Tour 2024 with a concert at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi on Feb. 9, with stops in Raleigh, N.C.; Baltimore; Louisville, Ky.; plus Calgary and Alberta in Canada, before wrapping up in Bridgeport, Conn. on April 29. Toto is billed as the support act.

旅游’s closest date to the Bay Area is March 16 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

“We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends Toto,” Neal Schon, Journey’s guitarist and co-founder, said in a statement. “Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin’ good memories.”

Similar to the initial leg of their tour supporting the album “Freedom” earlier this year, the 30-city trek includes no local performances.

旅游ing lineup for Journey consists of guitarist Schon, keyboardists Jonathan Cain and Jason Derlatka, singer Arnel Pineda, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen.

Best known for classics like “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” and “Lights,” Journey’slast hometown performancewas at Chase Center in April 2022.

The original lineup of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group was formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch.

The band’s tour comes amid an ongoing feud between members Cain and Schon, which has prompted the musicians to have off-duty police officerssafeguard their dressing roomsduring the previous leg, as reported byBillboard, a music industry publication.

Bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith, who last played with the band in 2019, were fired from Journey for attempting a “coup” over the band’s trademark.

The Ticketmaster presale begins Thursday, Sept. 28, with the access code “STUDIO.” The general sale starts at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, throughTicketmaster.
