The band — with bassist Reeves, guitarist and vocalist Bret Dormouse (a San Jose native), and drummer Robert Mailhouse — also timed the release of its new single, “Everything Turns Around,” with the tour announcement on Wednesday, July 19. The track offers a preview of the band’s first album in more than 20 years, “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees,” scheduled for release on Oct. 6 via their own label, Dillon Street Records.

“It feels like a fun summer song to us. It has an uplifting message and a positive vibe that hopefully makes your day a little bit lighter,” Dogstar said in a statement. “It’s one of our favorite songs to play live.”

Dogstar played itsfirst public concertin 23 years at BottleRock in May, where the trio played a mix of songs from its previous studio albums, 1996’s “Our Little Visionary” and 2000’s “Happy Ending,” alongside a handful of tunes from its forthcoming release.

“Today was like our first kind of foray out,” Reeves, best known for his acting in “The Matrix” and “John Wick,” told The Chronicle at the time. “The band wants to play, we have a record, so we’re just kind of trying to figure out the best way to marry those two things.”
