Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Bandcanceled all their performances scheduled for September after the frontman fell ill.

“Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows,”said a statementposted to social media late Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Springsteen said that he and the band are “heartbroken to have to postpone these shows,” beginning with a show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. on Thursday, Sept. 7. He added, “We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

TheNorth American legof Springsteen’s first tour with The E Street Band since 2017 kicked off with a concert at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on Aug. 9. The band includes drummer Max Weinberg, bassist Garry W. Tallent, keyboardist Roy Bittan, guitarists Steven Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren, and saxophonist Jake Clemons, nephew of the late tenor saxophonist Clarence Clemons.

Shows that must be rescheduled also include stops in Baltimore; Pittsburgh; Uncasville, Conn.; Albany, N.Y.; Columbus, Ohio; and Washington D.C.

There are no updates on their December performances at San Francisco’s Chase Center on Dec. 10 and 12 (postponed from Dec. 8) at this time.

“We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon,” Springsteen assured fans. “Love and God bless all, Bruce.”

The band’s 2023 tour, which kicked off in February, has been hampered byhealth issues.

Last month, Springsteen postponed a pair of dates scheduled in Philadelphia to 2024, due to an undisclosed illness.

In April, Springsteen and his wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa were diagnosed with COVID-19 following the final concert of the first leg of the tour. Van Zandt, violinist/singer Soozie Tyrell, Clemons and some of the band’s touring backup singers have also missed dates after testing positive for the coronavirus.

On the European leg, Springsteenfell on stagein Amsterdam, but he laughed it off after being on his back for a few seconds.
