A publicist for Goldenvoice, the company that runs the mega-festival, also did not respond to a request for information.
Kanye West pulls out of Coachella days before the festival begins
Swedish House Mafia had already been listed as performers prior to the lineup change, but it wasn’t immediately clear when they were to perform. Now they are listed at the top of the Sunday schedule, along with the Weeknd. Other headliners include Billie Eilish and Harry Styles.
The festival appearance comes before the Weeknd is scheduled to take his long-postponedNorth American tour, with fellow Coachella performer Doja Cat, to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Aug. 27.
Coachella was originally set for its usual April slots in 2020, with headliners Travis Scott, Rage Against the Machine and Frank Ocean. West also pulled out of a planned headlining appearance at that year’s festival days before it was announced, according to Variety.
Scott and Rage Against the Machine will no longer perform when the festival returns this month, and Ocean plans to headline the 2023 edition of the festival.
Other performers on the Coachella 2022 lineup include Phoebe Bridgers, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Danny Elfman, Run the Jewels, Jamie xx, Carly Rae Jepsen, Vince Staples, Japanese Breakfast, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Orville Peck, Nilüfer Yanya, Disclosure, Brockhampton, the Blessed Madonna, Amber Mark, Slowthai, Fatboy Slim and BadBadNotGood, among many others.
Goldenvoice announced its plans toscrap all COVID-19 safety rules for the festivalin February, saying attendees would no longer need to show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test result, nor would they be required to wear masks.
Goldenvoice plans to once again live-stream the festival on Coachella’s YouTube channel.
